Members of the Liberian Swedish Association (LSA) Malmö chapter will elect new officials to govern the affairs of the chapter on Saturday, August 29, 2020.
The LSA Malmö chapter membership consists of Liberians living in the south of Sweden - from cities after the Linköping municipality towards the border of Sweden and Danmark.
For little over a year, the LSA Malmö chapter has been governed by an interim leadership, which has received immense praises from the LSA Stockholm Headquarter. The leadership is accredited for its tremendous achievements in terms of uniting members and bringing the chapter back to preeminence.
Mr. Charles Massaquoi serves as the chairman for the leadership, Mr. Lusiny Swaray who took over the post after the resignation of Madam Susanna Leith, serves as vice-chairman, Mr. Richard Baros Fully as its Secretary, while Miss Daisy Wesseh serves as the Financial Secretary.
In a discussion with the LSA Media team, Mr. Massaquoi attributed part of his leadership success to LSA President, Mr. David Ford, and Vice-President, Mrs. Koo Y. Joseph for their tireless efforts in supporting his administration and Liberians in the LSA Malmö areas. Likewise, he also praised members of the LSA Malmö community for their tremendous efforts in terms of cooperation and support.
Mr. Massaquoi added that it was time for him to step aside after serving his community in different positions for a long period of time. He believes that this will give potential leaders the chance to come onboard with fresh ideas, which could bring about conceivable developments in the chapter and the entire LSA. However, Mr. Massaquoi promised to remain committed and to provide his expertise whenever he's called upon.
After evaluating the considerable works carried out by Mr. Massaquoi and his team, the leadership of LSA Stockholm Headquarter decided that it was time to set the stage for members of the chapter to elect new leaders, to vote into office a Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, and Financial Secretary.
Mr. Beyan Kesselly and Mr. Abrahan Jallah of the LSA community will serve as the election commissioner and vice-commissioners respectively for the upcoming election. Both gentlemen previously served in these capacities early this year for the LSA Norrland chapter election.
The electoral process will be governed by LSA electoral guidelines according to the following timelines:
